The Joint Sight Committee has been volunteering with vision screening and has offered financial assistance for needs associated with sight since the 1960s.

The Aurora Borealis Lions Club Foundation purchased its own recycling facility in North Pole, Alaska in 2004. They process 40,000 thousand pairs a year.
